Martin V Smith
Martin Smith has been painting seriously since graduation from Chelsea School of Art in 1971. He readily admits influence of Turner, Joseph Albers, and Bridget Riley. All of the works shown here reflect an interest in maintaining pictorial space and colour in painting. Later works reference land, water and air 'scape', but are directed towards the achievement of a fresh visual experience. They reflect response to the possibilities offered by the illusion of transparency.
