Digital capture and scanning

Fine Art Photography

Paintings and illustrations are captured using a high resolution scanning camera which is capable of retaining the finest detail from any size or type of original. This avoids the need for a transparency and eliminates the stitching required for large originals when scanning sections using a flat bed scanner.

The Phase One camera back is regarded by many as having the equivalent quality of 10x8 film. It is connected to a professional studio camera and produces an image which is probably the highest resolution from any camera currently available.

Coupled to a flat field macro lens it is able to resolve extremely fine detail and the use of studio lighting ensures that the image is evenly lit, with a controlled colour balance. The picture on the right shows a 2 metre wide painting being prepared for scanning

High resolution film scanning

Our 10x8" pre-press film scanner is capable of scanning large format colour transparencies. This is of particular interest to artists who already have a stock of 5x4 transparencies from earlier photography which they now wish to archive or to use for the production of limited edition prints.
